
Located outside the town of Waitomo, north of New Zealand, Waitomo is a real firefly attractive destination for tourists by blue light shimmering magic of fireflies live in caves. Fireflies Arachnocampa Luminosa scientific name, is emitting tiny organisms, usually produces blue light and more appear in New Zealand.

This cave was first discovered in 1887 by a Maori tribal chief, Tane Tinorau and a British investigator, Fred Mace. Although the Maori have known of the existence of this cave a long time, but no one ever explore underground caves such as Waitomo Caves.

Only when Tane Tinorau Fred Mace and friends paddle into the cave, they are taken aback by some shimmer that fireflies Arachnocampa Luminosa created inside the cave. The deeper we go in, the more they will be impressed and surprised because there are millions of fireflies shine the floor caves and beautiful stalactites.

Pretty excited about this miracle, they decided to come back here many times and then found the entrance to the cave from the lead on the ground today. In 1889, the patriarch gave Tane Tinorau open Waitomo Caves fireflies as attractions for tourists.
