Ford has set a record for hybrid sales in April with 8481 vehicles, accounting for 18% market share of hybrid vehicles in the United States. At this time last year, Ford's hybrid vehicle is only 3% U.S. market share.

Currently, Toyota still control 58% of market share in the U.S. hybrid vehicle, but Ford is the only 71% compared to last year. Of that slice of Toyota had to share with the other automobile manufacturers.

According to the analysis of Ford hybrid vehicles in the U.S. market share grew modest 2.5% compared with an increase of 7% of the overall automotive industry. While Ford's hybrid growth was 4% higher than the average growth of 1.5% market share of hybrid vehicles.

Growth of hybrid market share by modest gasoline prices stable a few years ago. When gasoline prices rise, hybrid sales will increase. Toyota's North American CEO, said the company's goal is to sell 250,000 hybrid vehicles this year. But gasoline prices upset the plans can be adjusted down Toyota hybrid sales.

According to Autodata Corp., sales of the Fusion Hybrid in April reached 3,989 vehicles, an increase of 400% compared to the same period last year, while sales of the Toyota Prius, including plug-in hybrid vehicles decreased by 21% to reach 19,889.
