Cadillac ATS Sedan will be manufactured in China

- Like the Cadillac XTS, the ATS small luxury sedan will be produced in China in order to better meet customer needs and reduce production costs.

According to information recently posted on Carscoop, GM's luxury brand Cadillac will begin production of the ATS Sedan in China later this year, while the Cadillac CTS Sedan new generation will continue to be taken to China import path.
"We look forward to receiving the ATS production in China later this year, early next year," Head of Cadillac's global marketing, Bob Ferguson, revealed to WardsAuto in an interview made at the 2013 New York International Auto Show, where Cadillac CTS Sedan unveiled the 3rd generation.
In February last, Cadillac XTS Sedan brought into production in the Chinese market, with both variants equipped with front wheel drive and four-wheel drive systems. The most advanced luxury sedan Cadillac produced at its plant in Shanghai. Like the Cadillac XTS, Cadillac ATS production in China will only be sold in this market.
"XTS had a great start, had a lot of orders for cars from China," Bob Ferguson said.
According to Carscoop, Cadillac sold 30,000 vehicles in China in 2012, and the goal is to increase sales of GM's Cadillac in this market to the 100,000 vehicles sold in 2015, up more than double the market share of Cadillac in the luxury car segment in China from 5% to 10%.
In March last, Cadillac has sold 3,629 cars in China, a record number. While GM and partners from China has sold nearly 816,000 vehicles in China in the first quarter of 2013.
