Audi TT lightweight debut

 
Audi has announced plans to bring an ultra-light concept car of the current version of TT 2013 Wörthersee festival.
Based on the TT quattro S, this concept is powered by a 2.0L TFSI turbocharged, 4-cylinder of 310 horsepower, 400 Nm of torque. Audi's main purpose is to reduce the weight as low as possible and to the German carmaker has succeeded in saving 300kg, the weight of the car to help only 1.111kg. Whereby car capable of accelerating from 0-100km / h in 4.2 seconds, before reaching a maximum speed of 280km / h.


Compared to the standard version, lighter body structure 43kg. The tail, B-pillar and the roof is made of CFRP carbon fiber, while the floor using magnesium.

Meanwhile, thanks FRP structure, the weight of the entire system from R8 GT seats fell further 22kg. However, the modern equipment remains the same as air conditioning, power windows and electromechanical parking brake.


Like other concept vehicles at Wörthersee, this model will not be put into production. Even so, Audi said it would use technology similar weight savings for the future.
