Buick Riviera Concept and aspiring GM in China


As the No. 4 car idea was born from the joint venture Shanghai GM and PATAC, Riviera marks 110 years birthday celebration Buick with the future depends largely on the Chinese market.

Riviera's design concept inspired by China: a river flowing with natural and vivid 3D effect gives the feeling of ocean waves. Interior design tries to evoke the style of wood with jade inlaid aluminum and ebony suede.
However, the new Riviera retain style waterfall grille characteristic of the LEDs as Buick outstretched wings.
GM said the concept took power from the system plug-in hybrid can be charged by wire or wirelessly via the jack under the car. Riviera also use the system high-speed mobile Internet 4G LTE.
While GM does not call this a self-drive car, the Riviera concept integrated active safety system with high tech features such as support for system drive "autopilot". The car uses 10 cameras and 18 sensors to collect traffic information received and displayed on the windshield. In addition, GM also offers nighttime features support, adaptive cruise control and speed every blind spot warning, warning switch lanes or traffic collisions.
In China, GM's products are sold under the brands Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Opel, Baojun, Wuling and Jiefang. In 2012, sales in this market and GM's joint ventures increased 11.3% to more than 2.8 million cars and served as the sales leader among automakers in China for 8 consecutive years . During a press conference at the Shanghai auto show, automaker has said it expects sales to increase from 7 to 8% in 2013 and is expected to export 100,000 to 130,000 cars produced in China.
Currently the GM factory in China has reached nearly maximum capacity. In 2012, they opened two new plants will have 4 other plants until 2015. To help customers easily buy used cars and services, the company continues to expand its dealership network to a total of 4,200 agents in China in late 2013.
