Nissan Leaf is going to be produced in China

Nissan Motor Co. and also the 2nd largest automobile manufacturer Japan recently said it is considering plans to produce electric car Leaf in Guangdong Province, China.

A source revealed, Nissan and partner Dongfeng Motor Group Co. discuss the project. With up to 2 billion yuan (about $ 322,000), Nissan and Dongfeng factory will have a capacity 10,000 Leaf vehicles per year and increased to 50,000 in 2015, the number equal to vehicle production Leaf facility in the UK and Japan.

The Chinese government is aiming to sell 5 million electric vehicles by 2010 with subsidies, tax incentives for hybrid and fuel-efficient diesel.

However, only those products produced locally are eligible to receive the amount of 60,000 yuan. This is also the reason for Dongfeng Nissan partnership with car manufacturers in the world's most populous market.

CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn predicts electric vehicles will account for at least 10% of the total sales of cars worldwide in 2020.

In China, Nissan Leaf will be fierce competition with the Chevrolet Volt, plug-in Prius and both e6 sample of domestic car company BYD.
