Ford and The Way Forward


In October 1913, Ford's revolutionary initiative of automatic production line commenced operation in Highland Park assembly plant in Michigan.By 1916, the plant has an output of more than 585,000 Model T cars a year. This initiative continued success and proved to be more effective in reducing the cost of the car in the next year.
One hundred years later, a similar process with continuous improvement is driving Ford's unprecedented expansion in the Asia Pacific (AP). Despite the difficulties due to the ongoing debt crisis in Europe and political deadlock in the U.S., AP region continues to prove to be optimistic area for business development.
Yong Tang, Senior Economic Officer at the global headquarters of Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, said: "We are very excited to see the positive signs of economic recovery in major markets such as China and a certain region in India. We also expect an improvement in economic growth and breakthrough in the Asian market. Yong also indicates a strong design link between the markets in the region. Accordingly, economic growth in major markets such as China will promote and provide benefits to other developing markets.
