Thailand seized 10 luxury cars were imported tax evasion investigation ~ car loan




Thai Customs has seized 10 luxury cars suspicion of illegally imported to detect tax evasion after the cars are imported from abroad but registered in the State assembly.


On 8/6 past, Thai Customs Department held a press conference about their findings and 10 luxury cars seized at border areas of Thailand upon request from the Office of Special Investigation ( DSI) to prevent the cars were taken abroad.


Agency's Special Investigation said Thailand has 6,000 registered car is assembled in the country but in fact these vehicles are imported from abroad.


This is one of the dynamics of the survey supercar 10,000 suspected tax evasion imported cars.


Office of the Thai Customs Department said seven of the cars seized some details are assembled in the country while two Lamborghinis and a Mercedes-Benz is fully imported.


He Rakhom Srisupathan - Deputy Thai Customs Department, said: "According to the investigation, the imported cars go for about a year, Customs has recently investigated and it just caught."

The Lamborghini Aventador is legally imported, but is claimed to be lower Gellardo form. The importer was fined twice the actual cost, ie more than 30 million baht in taxes


The vehicle was seized, including 04 Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini 02 (worth approximately 74 million baht), BMW 02, 01 and 01 Porsche Lexus Hybrid. 10 Estimated value of this car about 120 million Thai baht (approximately $ 4,300,000).


Currently, Thailand is taking the car import tax of 300% on cars with a capacity of 3,000 cc, given that these are luxury items.


Special Investigation Agency of Thailand said the owner of the vehicle was arrested trying to push the car to go abroad to avoid tax investigation, but authorities said they would focus importers investigation rather than its owner.
